Development in information technology (IT), globalization influence and current economic rapidity bring many implications in our daily lives. Rapid information exchange has changed the way we communicate and officiate. We have gained a lot of benefits in using ICT as a tool to accomplish our daily chores.

eProcurement Unit which was established in September 1999 is responsible to observe, monitor and to enhance the entire process and system flow of the Federal Government's electronically based procurement - ePerolehan. The eProcurement System is developed by Commerce Dot Com (CDC), a company which is given the concession as Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) project by the Malaysian Government for a period of 12 years until the year 2012. The eProcurement system (eP) is one of the most successful flagship applications in the Electronic Government project (eG).

The implementation of eProcurement system not only enables government agencies to procure electronically but directly helps to improve the competency of procurement transaction process between the suppliers and federal government agencies. The system is outlined to save time, energy and money to be more transparent, fair and easy to use. The system also enables government and suppliers to be more ingenious and more competitive.

Visitors are welcomed to visit eP's portal in order to obtain latest information on eP Unit's activities, functions and programs, which have been and will be carried out. This portal will always be updated in its contents, information, appearances and news about the eP Unit. Visitors will be able to get the related government circulars and instructions, submit inquiries and so forth. Through this portal, I hope that visitors will gain better understanding about the government's procurement process which is operated electronically.

Furthermore, this portal will act as a bridge to other websites related to the Electronic Government.

I do hope with the usage of this portal, eProcurement's Unit will contribute towards creating a society which is knowledge economy in essence, which is much needed to wade Vision 2020.
